What type of prideful ignorance does it take to think they’re the only ones allowed to cover anything political or Hollywood? Who deems VF the ones in charge? Last I checked, we still live in a free country.
It’s jealousy, Jess. 100%. VF journalists and their journalism schooling has gotten them nothing. A degree does not magically bestow talent. Some folks are just born with it.
I was once a television production major who wanted to go into news production. I left that in 2004 when I realized that I wouldn’t be able to think as I wanted and would have to be more conforming (and would have to move to LA and be very underpaid). I am thrilled that you get to have it all, and live vicariously through you and your journalism in a way. They hate and I appreciate.
