I love this format. I would love to see more thoughts like this.

Overall, the state of the union is very sad. LOL I'm one of those Christian's following you. It's hard to not get discouraged in the midst of lies and corruption but in my worldview, it's nothing new. It doesn't mean I sit on the sidelines, but regardless of who's REALLY running the White House, my job is to love God and my neighbor. If I can do that, the rest will trickle out. Thank you for your bravery and I'm praying for you and your family!

Christian here! I do love me some satire and raw humor and I don’t shy away from it. I can’t stand the Bidens and yet I know I’m called to pray for their salvation. It’s a chilling fact that if no repentance- this world, their shady criminal lives… this NOW… is the best they will ever see.

Expand full comment

Very chilling indeed when I think about the fact they will have to stand before God and give an account for every wrong done. It makes me relief with justice and fearful for their sakes if they don't repent. Which statistically people are cemented in their ways after the age of 30. No budging. But God is bigger.

In the meantime, we need new human leaders.

I was about to say the same thing. Please post more articles in this style - very interesting. Yes, I am also a Christian following Jess and also struggling not to be discouraged. As for who is running the WH - Obama of course, along with his minions (Susan Rice being a prime one). Love hearing about your precious boys. When IS Arlo coming home??

This is truly one of my favorite posts of yours. You’re always honest in your writing, but there’s a rawness, a vulnerability when you write in real time, the thoughts that many of us are feeling but don’t have a platform for. It’s like chatting with a likewise concerned friend about their family, their fears and their celebrations. Thank you for letting us in.

I’m Catholic and I follow you! I’d guess the large Christian base is due to our desire to seek out truth and that’s what we get with your unbiased coverage. Thank you!

The most surprising thing I just read was your secret fondness for the Clintons. Terrible people. Dig deeper. 😘

No, I know. But that was my favorite era of politics. I can't help it.

Times seemed simpler back then. When the biggest scandal was that Bill was getting “Huak Tua” in the Oval Office. Not a fan of what the Clintons have proven themselves to be- but of the innocence in comparison to what we know now and are dealing with. I get your thought process and nostalgia.

Expand full comment

When nostalgia for them hits you just think of Bill in a blue dress and Hillary calling half of Americans “a basket of deplorables” to bring your feelings back into line! Works for me! Bill was the ONLY time I voted Democrat..only in his first election. By the second term I had my eyes reopened.

The debate looks like an orchestrated put-up job to get Biden off the ticket. It looks to me like the fact that this debate was had so early to give another candidate the opportunity to campaign. It’s also why the media seemed to be in lock step in immediately denouncing Biden and acting surprised at his performance, and calling for his replacement. It all looks orchestrated.

I have def entertained this theory, too

Since I'm Team Kennedy, I hope Joe Biden stays on the ticket as he would be easier to defeat than a replacement (potentially).

Despite how we are painted by the world, I think we Christians appreciate honesty more than anything. You may not be one of us (yet), but you are doing the Lord’s work (both literally and figuratively) in chasing down these stories that nobody in power wants told. You give no quarter and treat celebrities and politicians with equal disdain. I signed up for the dirt but ended up finding the truth. Nobody else in media offers that kind of fix.

This is one of my FAVORITE substacks of yours!! So relatable (other than the sources of course LOL) . Truly, I hope you become a multimillionaire because you earn it by doing a true service for the people of our country, which is quite literally just covering interesting, as well as important, shit that Americans actually wanna hear about! And I feel like you're a good example of how the majority does NOT care who a person is voting for. We care if you have integrity and the courage to be honest in your reporting. 👏🏼👏🏼

P.S I am one of the Christians who follow you and no matter what your beliefs are, Jesus knows your heart, which means we get a sense of your heart too and that's why we can follow you regardless! you've been so blessed because of that heart of yours... that and your incredible work ethic. 🩷

Also, Jesus loves you no matter what!!

Expand full comment

And by "does not care" regarding who you're voting for... I mean that as in who they will "follow" on Social media! Like, so many people don't want to be in an echo chamber, nor do they feel like their entire lives need to be based on "party lines". Lord, I miss the good ol days when personalities weren't based on politics. When it truly didn't matter who you voted for, you were friends/family and if your politics didn't align you just didn't talk about it! Shocking to some, I know, but once upon a time Americans of all political opinion co-existed quite happily. Grant it, we were in the "dark" about a lot of things but it was definitely a simpler and happy time to be alive!

Obama's Comment about Biden:

Truth: The quote attributed to Obama about Biden's ability to "mess things up" is often taken out of context or misrepresented. While there have been reported tensions and disagreements between the two, it’s misleading to imply this defines Biden’s entire presidency. Obama has publicly endorsed Biden multiple times and campaigned for him during the 2020 election.

Kamala Harris Replacement Speculation:

Truth: It's not speculation to say that now is not the right time for President Biden to step down to ensure a smooth transition to Kamala Harris. The timing of such a decision is crucial, and stepping down during or immediately after the Democratic National Convention, or after the general election but before the Electoral College vote, would be the most strategic to minimize chaos and ensure party unity.

Jill Biden’s Role and Influence:

Truth: The portrayal of Jill Biden as a domineering figure within the Democratic Party is exaggerated. While she is a supportive spouse and an active First Lady, there is no credible evidence to suggest she has undue influence over party decisions or that she is “worse than Hillary.”

Health of President Biden:

Truth: Discussions about Biden’s health often rely on conjecture and selective reporting. The administration has provided health updates, and while concerns about any president's health are valid, the portrayal of Biden as entirely incapacitated is an exaggeration not supported by medical facts released to the public.

COVID-19 and Public Briefings:

Truth: Describing White House briefings as "gaslighting" is an opinion rather than a factual critique. Different administrations handle communications differently, and while there may be disagreements about style or content, calling them "badly acted skits" is a subjective judgment rather than an objective analysis.

|Criticism of Trump and COVID-19:

Truth: The pandemic has been a polarizing issue with varied responses from both parties. Accusations that Democrats lied about COVID-19 are broad and lack specific evidence. Both parties have had their approaches critiqued and praised in different contexts.

Hunter Biden's Influence:

Truth: Claims that Hunter Biden is influencing national decisions are largely speculative. While his business dealings have been scrutinized, there is no verified evidence that he is directing or significantly impacting national policy decisions.

Speculation on Biden Stepping Down:

Truth: If President Biden were to step down strategically to ensure Kamala Harris's nomination as the Democratic presidential candidate, the most optimal points in time would be:

During the Democratic National Convention: This would allow the party to unify quickly around Harris, avoiding a contested convention and ensuring stability and continuity.

After the Democratic National Convention but Before the General Election: Elevating Harris to the top of the ticket at this stage would be logistically challenging and politically risky, making her succession nearly assured.

After the General Election but Before the Electoral College Vote: If Biden steps down after winning the general election but before the Electoral College vote, electors pledged to Biden would likely cast their votes for Harris, minimizing disruption and maintaining party unity.

General Tone and Assertions:

Truth: The tone of the post is heavily biased and filled with hyperbole. While it’s valid to have political opinions and critiques, it’s important to separate personal dissatisfaction from verifiable facts. Emotional and anecdotal arguments, while compelling, do not replace the need for substantiated information.

Sure, he can take care of his basic needs, but if he is healthy enough to run this country then we need to see some transparency. A town hall perhaps? Where the questions are unknown until spoken? Spontaneous answers? I know I do not trust anyone in government right now to speak the truth about his healthcare. Are they obliged to tell us every detail or only what Biden allows released? HIPPA and all...

Expand full comment

I get your point about transparency and the need to see more openness about Biden's health. Sure, he can take care of his basic needs, but if he is healthy enough to run this country, then a town hall where he answers spontaneous questions could go a long way in reassuring the public. It’s not about whether he should or shouldn’t resign—that’s a matter of personal opinion.

What I’m reflecting on is the consequences of a resignation at the wrong time. Concerns about his health and the transparency surrounding it are certainly part of the dialogue. If Biden doesn't take steps to be more transparent—within the privacy constraints we've discussed—voters need to consider this in their calculus. The assurance that Kamala Harris would take the reins if he steps down is also an important factor.

Transparency in leadership is crucial. Historically, town halls and spontaneous Q&A sessions have been effective ways for leaders to engage with citizens directly and demonstrate their competency. Having Biden participate in a town hall where questions are unknown until asked could provide a lot of clarity. It allows us to see spontaneous answers and get a better sense of his capabilities.

Balancing privacy and public interest is key here. While privacy laws protect health information, regular updates from independent medical professionals can help ensure that we get honest information. Public engagements where the President answers unscripted questions can also address concerns about his health and capability, providing us with the reassurance we need.

In essence, while respecting the necessary privacy laws, enhancing transparency through regular medical updates and public forums can help bridge the gap between privacy and public trust. And if Biden were to resign, timing it right is crucial to avoid unnecessary chaos and ensure stability. This consideration, along with Biden's transparency and Harris’s readiness to lead, should all be part of a voter's decision-making process.
