I hate to say this since this is a piece about Jonbenet (a case that I’ve studied for YEARS and can’t wait to see what else you reveal to us tomorrow), but I can’t help but feel like the same kind of crap is going down with the Idaho Moscow murders. People wanting to cover things up for the sake of corruption, personal interest, and fear of exposure instead of revealing the truth. Absolutely sad and a gross disservice to the victims and people affected by these crimes.

I was hoping people would pick up on this.

I know one of the EMTs that was one of the first responders to Moscow. He is not the same.

It’s exactly like what’s happening! And in small towns all over! 🤬🤬🤬

Wow! How heartbreaking. You can feel his heart just reading the letter. Now after seeing Sound of Freedom - everyone please go see it - I am now suspicious. Was JonBenet being trafficked by her own parents????? Why else would the DA cover up the murder of a child?????

I always suspected this!!!

Right? Perhaps some cops were clientele of the ramsey’s. Or something similar. I also thought you know how some people will stick up for others who they think are really amazing like maybe the cops really thought this rich guy Mr. Ramsey needed to be protected. I think it was either the son or the father. the po-po thought, oh these rich guys don’t deserve their whole lives ruined over this, it was just some little girl…oopsie. Boys will be boys. That type thing. But police involvement or AG involvement ? I don’t think we’ll ever know. Definitelyan inside job though… It wasn’t some random person wandering on xmas eve.

Wow, I had chills reading that. You can really empathize with just what a huge impact it had on his conscience and how corrupt it must have all been. But who were they covering up for? And why!? That’s the question

Please tell me you’ve interviewed Steve Thomas and he told you EVERYTHING.

My parents were very close friends with Steve Thomas before and during this time period. He went through absolute hell trying to stand against the corruption in this case. I’m sure you’ve read it, Jessica, but his book is excellent for anyone interested in the case.

First responders pay the price of other people’s poor choices. No one ever thinks of that consequence. It breaks my heart to read his words and know the police were hogtied in their investigation while politicians, attorneys and those with willful disregard held the power. It’s disgusting.

Any time, you choose to break the law, whether it be speeding, petty thievery or will full murder, there’s a consequence great than you. It’s not only detectives, but firefighters, EMTs, trauma responders, clinical social works and even janitors and tow truck drivers that have to clean up the mess. These people carry it with them for life. It can’t be erased from memory. And the people that say it’s their job need to really explore those statements.

Wow. This is so true and powerful. My brother is a paramedic firefighter so we know this all too well 😔

Absolutely heartbreaking!

I’m so proud of this man! Just look at DC with the cocaine from this weekend. We’re in a different (uneven) society for far too long. Truth is truth wherever that lands.

I read the book by A James Kolar one Saturday afternoon. I’ve been waiting for this update since. It’s quite clear that what was portrayed about her death doesn’t add up!

Wholeheartedly agree, doesn’t add up at all.

That book was wild!

This is just heartbreaking. Heartbreaking for Jonbenet, and heartbreaking for this detective.... I read Foreign Faction on your recommendation, and from that too it seems that many detectives/officers felt this way. I too am eager for tomorrow's ending! I am sure there is evidence not made public in case this is ever "solved", but for so many of them to have wanted to present to a grand jury back then.... is money and power worth the life of a child? Naive' me again, but I cannot conceive this.... I just hate that so much crap happens with children and underage people, WHY are we allowing this?? Thank you Jessica - truly. And good to see Leon able to participate over the holiday! 🤗❤️

After seeing “The Sound of Freedom” yesterday, it became very clear that money and power is worth the life of a child to MANY sick people in this world. Everyone needs to get their heads outta the ground and wake up 😩💔

Can’t wait until tomorrows post . I have followed this case from day one ( having a pageant child ) and have had my opinion on who did it . With small children there are only so many theories that work , they don’t lead secret lives , so when the impossible is eliminated there is only one thing left ...the obvious truth . Thanks for posting this Jessica

So who do you think it is?

Expand full comment

I think is has to be family. Burke ? The note is a big red flag for one thing . The phrasing of the note and the ransom amount ( 118k ...Exactly his bonus ) just couldn’t come from a stranger . The writer was an insider . I also don’t think a random child killer would stay hidden like this and never strike again .

I'm going with Burke in the kitchen with a maglite.

I have always thought it was the son. I looked at it emotionally and took all the other rift raft out of it meaning all that stuff the media made up. Probably accidentally did it and since being their only child they wanted to save him.

I’ve always thought it was Burke.

Heroes/whistleblowers always have such a heavy cross to bear. Thank God for this man and those like him. This further highlights the necessity of critical reasoning and non-partisan journalism. Thank you for all your are doing and the crosses you’ve had to bear in exposing truths.

His letter humanizes JonBenet again. The entire circus around this case is so tragic and has almost turned her murder into a bizarre, sad side show. It sounds like the DA let that happen.

What a wonderful human with a deeply tortured soul. I hope and pray he finds peace. I can't wait for your final so we will know who he more than likely strongly suspects did this unfathonable act and if he has been able to let go of his grief. Thank you for this. As a mother I know it must be hard to dive into this. #RIPJonBenet
