Okay first of all, I live in Ca and also 8 miles out of Portland Maine and Portland is NOT Maine. It’s like a weird vortex but I do go there once a week to walk around. I love Maine so much and the politics aren’t as weird as let’s just say California. I wish I was here while you were because I could share my Hunter S. Thompson stories with you and shield you from bad blow outs and blue haired ladies. ❤️ love ya. Keep going. You’re making a difference and keeping the world honest.

Born and raised in Portland ME- and it is NOT the same city as it was even 5 years ago- the majority of people living there now are from away- transient- and have turned it into a hub of pretentious liberal hipsters. Almost everyone that works or hangs or lives there is part of the “queer community” now. Paying thousands to live in apartments I used to drink Colt 45s in as a teenager. Gentrification at its finest. I live outside of Portland now- and find it painful to even enter the city. It was a quick and sad death of a once thriving and tight knit community of hard working middle class people.

RFK is most certainly the most intriguing and honest candidate I have seen and I love your dedication to following him and sharing. This momma is definitely a fan and although I do love me some Trump- RFK has me.

Oh man I was so hoping RFK Jr would be on the right side of history when it comes to Israel’s occupation of Palestine. He chose the easy way out and blamed all of this on H@mas and laid no blame on the Israeli government and the IdF and their 70+ years of oppression. Of course if you murder women and children, the living will rise up and resist. How could he neglect to mention the 10,000 murdered children. 100 journalists murdered. Fucking A man...

So Israel is jealous they can’t kill with impunity?😂FYI Assad killed less than two children a day while Israel is killing 180 per day. It definitively wins the “butcher of the Middle East” title. Congrats.

There has been much dissent about all of the above human rights issues. Maybe you don’t follow the news much?

Palestinians have not broken peace agreements and truces just because “you say so” doesn’t make it true. If you don’t want to read something other than Zionist history books you can check out Wikipedia for a list of who did what. Consistently playing the victim when Israel has been occupying Palestine for 75 years is just silly. It is clear Israel has never wanted the Palestinians to have a state and you only have to listen to the current government to hear it spoken out land.

Egypt doesn’t want Palestinians displace because history has shown Israel will grab the land and not respect the right of return according to international law. Israel has already grabbed so much land someone has to draw the line.

Finally America - the supposed defender and upholder of human rights - is not funding and backing any of the above human rights violations, in fact they spoke out against them. The glaring hypocrisy is what all sane human beings are reacting to.

If you really want to believe that the 153 countries who voted yes to a ceasefire because of the obvious ongoing genocide don’t know what’s going on - there’s nothing more to say to you.

This is not going to look good in the history books.

I don’t know who you think you are replying to, but you posted to me.

I didn’t make the assertion about Assad, but I don’t doubt it.

You post as if October 7th didn’t happen. It did. Sorry, girly, you may have tried that on your mother when you were a toddler, but it ain’t gonna fly here.

Hamas has impoverished the Gazans by stealing outside humanitarian support for the population to buy weapons and build stockpiles of food for their fighters; they built ~300 miles of tunnels under hospitals and schools & sited offensive rockets and launchers under & in close proximity to schools and hospitals as well as command bunkers.

Hamas initiated a provocative terrorist attack on civilians in their homes and a music festival in the early morning hours & runs back to their bunkers & at the same time launching thousands of rockets into Israeli civilian targets (to the extent that they could ) from next to hospitals. Oh & hostages.

All of that you conveniently forgot (well I haven’t)

Israel has 2 or 3 options as I see it: 1) do nothing, suck it up & offer $$$ and release of criminal terrorists to get their hostages back & wait for Hamas to do it again, hoping to get the approval of bleeding hearts nincompoops like you OR

2) do what they are doing and attempt to eradicate the problem, the cancer of Hamas with as little collateral damage as possible, knowing that, as with any radical cancer surgery there will be collateral consequences. Or

3) carpet bomb the whole Gaza Strip attempting to destroy & kill all that moves, followed by door to door & tunnel to tunnel killing of any Hamas that survived.

Hostages pose a problem for options 2&3.

Option 1 guarantees that they get to do it again, though it makes bleeding hearts like you happy temporarily except we will be back here again, won’t we?

The real problem is that Hamas & Palestinians don’t think that Israel should exist (& segments but not all of Israel think the converse) & will do anything to accomplish it. It will never happen; Israel is too rich, populous, and powerful, especially as compared to the Gazans.

Israel contributes to the world economy and knowledge (someone has said it is the second biggest tech sector after Silicon Valley); Hamas & Palestine, well not so much (& I’ll leave it at that).

The Gazans need to accept reality and get rid of Hamas (or the Hamas tiger needs to change its stripes). Not gonna happen as long as their leaders are getting big $$$s from ??? to live it up in Qatar while fomenting discontent back in Gaza.

What have I missed about the situation?

And wishin’ and hopin’ and dreamin’ otherwise ain’t gonna change a thing.

Oh & your recollection of Palestinian purity in this whole situation is like My Little Pony thinking.

Oh, and those 153 ‘countries’ are only the 153 delegates to the UN who get to live high on the hog--unless they are Muslim, then only on the QT-- off their country’s taxpayers while they mentally masturbate in Manhattan & patronize the local upscale prostitutes. Meanwhile their citizens are doing anything they can to emigrate to the USA.

And that, is the way it is, not pretty, but IIWII.

There are alternate reality narratives going on about Gaza.

Who has primary responsibility for the wellbeing of a population? A. Their leaders or B. Their next door neighbors (who have been suffering from hostility and assaults for 70 years from said population)

I assert that it is their leadership. Their leaders are willing to fight the IDF to the last baby, last twenty something male and last pimply faced teen in Gaza while they bask in luxury in Qatar (and believe me, I have been through Qatar and you can live very comfortably there). Did you listen to RFK Jr’s little history lesson?

I am tempted to ask if you are blonde, as your response is classic clueless dumb blonde, but perhaps you go to or recently graduated from Haaavad, in which case your hair could be any color.

I feel sorry for the women and children, but it all falls on Hamas. If the women were smart they would go on a sex strike until the men wised up and threw Hamas out, but I think they are brainwashed or intimidated by their thugs .

There is no “alternate reality” as you conveniently call it, it’s a genocide of my people and I’m not blonde (did u really just say that lol) and I actually live in this region. What is different about this wave of war crimes is that the evidence is proudly being shown by the IDF themselves. What a bunch of bloodthirsty terrorists these young pimply faced IDF soldiers are trained to be. When Palestine is free, these soldiers need therapy if not just find a settlement in the US because I certainly will not live with those who cheer for and enable the genocide of my people. There it is: you people would, if given your druthers (desires) would in actuality genocide the Jews as spelled out in Hamas’ charter.

Gaza had a functioning clean water and sewer system that Hamas ripped up to make rockets out of the pipes which you/they have been terrorizing the population of Israel for decades. And you are pleased to live in relative squalor while the leaders of Hamas live in opulence and safety in Qatar. You hate Jews so much that you put up with being exploited by the fat cats in Qatar. That my dear lady, is a sign of severe mental illness or evil.

I know Palestinians here in the USA and they have a peaceful prosperous life and don’t hate Jews , there is another way of living, free of hate (as one Israeli leader said, there can be peace in the Middle East when Palestinian mothers come to love their children more than they hate the Israelis/Jews.

Soften your heart & love your sons. Your hatred in your mind justifies the massacre of innocent civilians and children (or can you not conceive of an innocent Israeli/Jew in your heart?), this much is evident from what you’ve said here.

I also hold a US passport but it doesn’t mean anything when I visit my homeland, where I get harassed at the checkpoints daily. I am also Christian not that it matters in the slightest. Our cause is unified and one.

For all Palestinians, Zionism is the enemy not Jews. That is a HUGE distinction look how supported we are in the US by educated progressive Jews. I don’t think a ceasefire is possible without the support of the US Jews who are protesting for us and alongside us and getting arrested daily. If fanatic delusional Buddhists, Hindus or Muslims kicked us out of our homes, occupied our land, terrorized and dehumanized us (exactly like how you are doing here on full display) any human will resist. After calling me some Hamas slur you only demonstrate your failure of imagination. Anyone who wants to, can do better than this. I don’t need to “soften my heart” to ANY occupier cheering for the bombing of my people. Criticizing Israel or any Jew doesn’t mean hate or anti semitism. The world sees through this conflation now, and I’m loving it. Israel is an apartheid state.

How much studying does one need to do to condemn the brutal rape, torture, mutilation, and killing of unarmed civilians, women and children. You would make an excellent Harvard University president if you had sufficient melanin and a sexual orientation disorder. Look no one is without sin in this world & the Zionists terrorized the British before 1947-8, as did our forefathers before our revolution & the North American Indians the colonists and the Trojans the Greeks & vice versa, and the Vikings all of costal western Europe.

And in each case the aggressor party took their chances that they could get away with it without them or their families suffering the expected and likely just consequences of their actions. Similarly the Hittites, but they lost long time ago and we have no records that I am aware of.

What can be said of & for Arab or Muslim culture? It is past its peak Arab culture on the decline since Queen Isabella, Ottomans after WWI.

Israeli culture, well for their size: certainly competing above their weight class.

Would you, as a woman, rather live in Israel or any given Muslim country?

And just be a little nicer. Also, I’ve been to Israel and I’ve been all over the Middle East as my family is from there. I wouldn’t choose to live in Israel over the Middle East. You come across as quite righteous, you know?

Gal without a Tribe,

As I said before, I know that the Israelis were terrorists as they fought the Arabs and the British before the establishment of the State of Israel. I also know that there was no proximate provocation for the October 7th attack. And that Hamas has been shooting rockets into Israel for years on a seemingly random basis. Ditto for the other Palestinian groups.

Since slightly before I was born the Arabs have been opposed to the state of Israel. Over time, Jordan, Egypt and recently the countries of the Abrahamic Accord have come to peace with the existence of the State of Israel. Hamas, Iran, and I think Syria have not. None of those former states have suffered any attacks from Israel nor their civilian populations since they made peace. You would. think that perhaps Hamas could learn a lesson . . . but I guess not; the Hamas leaders sitting in Qatar re happy for the people of the Gaza to keep on fighting a loosing war to the last teenage fighter, woman, and child human shields.

Israel is not going anywhere. It has the most powerful armed forces in the region, it is backstopped by the US military. Iran backs and supplies (and who knows maybe encourages and strategizes with . . .) Hamas, Hezbollah and the PLO on the West Bank, but unless Slow Joe O'biden sells out Israel before he leaves office, they are not going to change the situation.

Hamas structures its military posture to endanger the population of Gaza; Israel on the other hand, structures its military posture to to protect its citizens: Jewish, Arab (Christian and Muslim without differentiation.)

War is hell, for both sides, but especially for the loosing side. That was true for the South in the American Civil War, it was true for the German population and the Japanese population at the end of WWII. (It was true of the Chinese as they were loosing to Japan in the beginning of WWII--the rape of Nanking ring a bell?).

What human rights and freedoms to the Palestinians have from their leaders. None that I can see or have heard about. It seems that if Israel were to magically disappear, the Palestinians would not be free even then (PLO and Hamas would be at each other's throats, likely there would be conflict between Hezbollah and other factions in Lebanon, Syria is in the midst of a civil war that has nothing to do with Israel, as far as I can see. Yemen is in Civil War, Iran is in theocratic oppression. From this western Christian's perspective I don't see a country or society that has an ideology that I could support, with the exception of the Iraqi Kurds with whom I am familiar having spend 4 weeks over 2 years in 2011 & 2012.

Well meaning but muddle headed Zoomer, I don't find your arguments persuasive, lacking a truly broad view of history and culture, that your dumbed down educational background has given you. This Boomer hasn't lost his faculties yet.

I have followed RFKjr for many years, and his take is always based on facts and research. I admire how he has always been willing to take a public stance on issues even when he knows that his stance is unpopular. The same integrity and evidence based approach that led him to believe that both his father and uncle were victims of conspiratorial violence, that vaccines are not safe, that the government was involved in the creation of Covid, leads to his stance on Israel. Like many of his public positions, this one is jarring for people because it involves discarding popular beliefs, but like every other position I have seen him take, eventually the facts show that he is right. Maybe you need to open your mind. I love this guy.

Expand full comment

It’s not hard: Hamas pulled an apparently unprovoked brutal terror attack on a civilian population. If that was done to virtually any other country (China, India, Russia, Iran, Brazil), their response would be swift and decisive and brutal in many cases, and no one would question the legitimacy of the response.

See my other post in response.

I agree. I was admittedly in the dark about the history of this area but since 2020 I've made an effort to listen to both sides and do my research before forming an opinion. It was so clear to me after actually listening to Palestinian journalists sharing their first hand experiences and also looking into the history of the land for the last 2000+ years that our media has manipulated us. H@mas was proven to be created in part by Israel. Not to mention all the contracts already in line for mining the rich oil reserves under the Gaza strip. Wars always = money laundering/resource harvesting for the elites/big corporations IMO. I love RFK and won't let one point sway my support... but I was very disappointed to hear his take on it.

Loved the,”living in the simulation” glitch comment. Also, your wonderfully descriptive prose. Sounds like you had a lot of laughs😁!

I’ve been saying Trump should pick tulsi for vp cause that would be so smart but as we now know we live in communist China. Anyway rfk can take her too.

Also I had the best lobster roll ever in Portland.

I think she’s definitely a contender for both!

I thought she was gonna run and I was sad when she didn’t but then the best move would to pick her as a vp. She’s literally the best. Tucker Tusli 2024 haha

@houseinhabit Jessica, thank you for another great tale. I especially liked that, at the beginning, you wrote highlights from your notes

Thank you, thank you, thank you, ❤️ for writing about RFK and his take on Israel/Hamas/Palestine. I had been beginning to find him a bit of a bully and couldn’t quite get my head around him not having an agenda. While it is a good thing not to agree with everything that a candidate has to say, this finished my support of Kennedy. Even though Trump also supports Israel (I believe), I’m now one of his followers as I find him more transparent. Thank you for your coverage of him!! He would not have been on my radar if not for you. I never thought that I would support him for President (although hoping that Tucker comes in for VP).

Even though I’m Canadian, it is so important for me to follow the American election. Most Canadians don’t realize how much the policy of the President affects our daily lives! Your coverage has been so important to me for this! I love you even more than before you started election coverage. Thanks, again

Thank you Diane for being so receptive to coverage here and on IG. I am proud to have readers like you. I think the whole point is to offer an alternative view of every candidate (outside of mainstream bias) and Both Trump and Kennedy have been grossly misinterpreted by the masses behind big media, so it's nice to hear that people like you appreciate learning more about all of them from a point of pure curiosity.

Remember we have a year to go! So much more to learn. I hope you keep an open mind as the stories and campaigns continue to evolve.

Xx

Love this!! I love the mix of humor, honesty, and thought provoking content - and RFK Jr seems to me to be a pretty solid guy....all I had ever heard or have seen were the bad pieces msm likes to show, as you have so well pointed out. Done with msm!!! It ticks me off that so many are ignorant about it, now that MY eyes are open....an I agree, take the child away from the event so they can calm down. I did it with my son once - his first and last temper tantrum was at a busy Mall, a dozen I brought him out to the car where he fell asleep with 5 minutes. 🤗
