I’m bracing for all the incompetence we are about to uncover in the wake of this disaster. I hope California wakes up to the reality that our government is inept and our policies have cost us dearly.
Sad these events happen, but these events always seem to be worse than need to be because of some negligence. I’ll be diving into the unusual aspects of this fire.
I am curious thought to why there’s a lot of trees still standing but houses burnt. I’m in FL and we don’t have a lot of fires, but that strikes me as odd.
I also heard the Santa Anna winds don’t occur in January, and usually September - October and sometimes November.
Curious to any feedback but I’ll be looking into this as well — and any unusual aspects
The root negligence is probably the urban/suburban development pattern that is pushing further and further into fire prone areas. You may have heard that State Farm canceled a lot of policies last year for homes in the Pacific Palisades area - that's because it's a high fire risk area being near/in the foothills with the properties being expensive as well.
I've seen some comments that the previous year was wetter than normal, which created a lot of new growth and then it's been dryer of late, which means all of that new plant growth became dry and potential fuel for the fire.
I'm a prescribed burn practitioner. We could do so much more if it weren't for absurd air quality standards in California. The lips would rather ignore the massive amounts of toxic gas is released by apocalyptic wildfire and it pick us for the little bit of smoke weed produce in creating shaded fuel breaks and eliminating accumulated fuel. Our governor lies about the work being done because he won't fund it properly and spends money on his pet boondoggles. https://www.capradio.org/articles/2021/06/23/newsom-misled-the-public-about-wildfire-prevention-efforts-ahead-of-worst-fire-season-on-record/
Good comment. Everything you stated is spot on, including the article about Native Americans using controlled burns as a method for forest health. I learned a lot about that subject from my friend who lived in rural Humboldt County.
Not sure about these trees but my husband has his burn license and taught me that many trees love and tolerate fire while others will burn to the ground (depending on the tree.) For example- you can burn a pine stand and they will not burn up while all the brush and other trees will.
So terribly sad. One of history’s most magical cities was entrusted by a majority of its citizens into the hands of criminals and incompetents. The human suffering and property losses are heartbreaking. A special part of the American dream has been vandalised.
Gross incompetence from government officials is inexcusable. All responsible should resign in shame. What is going on there is terrible, but what’s pathetic is how preventable all this was. Praying for everyone there!!! 🙏🏼
Here is what I am hearing from anonymous firefighters:
1. It is common for homeless people to cook outdoors. Many fires are started this way and this could be a possible cause.
2. PP has a LOT of seniors that have lived in their homes for years and years. While there are no reports of fatalities, there is a good chance that they did not all get out. The only way we may find out is when there is just no insurance claim filed for a particular home.
3. During Tuesday/ Wednesday there were multiple small fires started around the city. These were quickly put out but were likely arson or homeless fires for attention/ rides.
All of this is speculation of course, but 1 & 3 are not uncommon. If anything, they are more common than people are aware of.
Same in Colorado, homeless setting fires in the middle of the street or trash barrels just to watch them burn OR having a meth lab fire in the maintenance tunnel of the INTERSTATE which they had broke into to live in/make meth and it caught fire/closed the highway as a result. Don't discount that theory!
I was literally with the chief of fire when radios started going off about a homeless camp that had lit a trash barrel/dumpster on fire. We had a quick laugh about it being a dumpster but only to swallow the disbelief of how much the danger of fire is so present. This was in Colorado Springs. All the firefighters who were not the ones leaving to take the call said it happens a lot. So yeah....blame the homeless.
I am very interested to know how all of these fires got started. I can't imagine there were overhead powerlines in PP. I am convinced most of these are the work of arsonists and event people.
It could be different in this case, I’ve heard so many theories. But as an aside, I was visiting a fire station tonight and they were called to a fire off the freeway and had to leave. I drove by, and sure enough…homeless fire. It was the 3rd one I’d heard of in 24 hours. It’s fun to watch trash burn, apparently.
These expansive fires in different locations at once cannot just be the homeless. It goes much deeper. Too many orchestrated events, like canceled insurance policies just months before and no water in the hydrants in Tinseltown? Are you paid to steer the narrative?
The American Red Cross is a corrupt institution with nefarious ties to unspeakable crimes. It will be part of the disclosures. Money would be better donated to the many other listed organizations - especially the go-fund-me accounts that are vetted by mutual friends. I would never donated money to the American Red Cross.
What an awful nightmare. Blame could go all around. Right now that seems unnecessary. Prayer for those affected and for clear heads to prevail as it comes to future decisions.
OOHHHH... almost as bad as PedoJoe at meeting about the CA firestorms, looking at Comma-la and said, "Fire Away... no pun intended." Jan 20 cannot come soon enough.
I grew up fishing, so I knew what a smelt was. I thought it was unnerving that alot of this tragedy was caused by a bait fish that you can get at any bait shop for a dollar a dozen, but I digress.
Exactly! They are bait fish; but, apparently CA has some very special bait fish. What the hell are they thinking? Clearly TPTB in CA have no working braincells.
Jessica I have some information you’ll find interesting that connect these LA fires to the ones in Maui and in Chile. If you’ve heard of the smart cities and their plans/ timeline goals, this all adds up. Altadena doesn’t just get 80+ mph winds. Also look into HAARP and the conspiracy behind La Niña. This is not natural. This is not ‘climate change’.
I started learning about HAARP, agenda 2023/30 from Rosa Kiore. Who died a few years ago. I think they killed her. There's so many stories talking about DEW in lahaina.
This is all so sad and I agree it probably could have been avoided with better planning. Especially forestry infrastructure planning. I’ve driven down PCH 1 from San Francisco to LA and it was such a beautiful drive. I loved seeing all the beautiful homes along the pacific palisades. I lived in LA a short time and those times were definitely better than today. I think Newsum needs to resign for sure. I can’t believe he got rid of all those dams. 😮
I keep asking ChatGPT who lost their houses. James Wood, Eugene Levy, Miles Teller. And Ben Affleck had to seek refuge at Jennifer Garners house. I hope he isn’t mean to her.
California is just one more state/city with a failing infrastructure caused by government mis-management. I would assume most cities in the US are struggling one way or another, and are on the fringe of a one problem that can be a major catastrophe. It's disgusting to me that they have sent so much money to Ukraine, and others, while we are falling apart without resources to keep us safe.
Many prayers for the people in California. I would like more stories of the citizen heros and less of the movie stars. (In my opinion they are part of the problem.)
If anyone is seeking crisis trauma coaching/intervention or support, I’m happy to set up free 90 minute groups for intervention! If anyone is interested please let me know and I’ll set some up for tomorrow and this weekend for free. You can contact me here and I’ll give you my info. This is absolutely catastrophic!!!
Thank you for your news Jessica. So sad to see the Mayor and Newsom blame others and act like they know what is going on and that they are not culpable. I saw a report that people were video taped setting a fire- very sad.
This is really helpful, Jessica. So much info all together in one place. Feeling helpless while hearing about the fires from the East Coast so I esp appreciate your including links to orgs that can help. Stay safe!🫶

If there is a silver lining to this devastation, I pray that is it.
Like with Covid. People are waking up.

Secondly, preventive fire work needs to change. It's probably time to take up the ancient managerial techniques of Native American tribes that managed the forests for centuries and kept forest fires (or brush fires) manageable: https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/news/how-indigenous-practice-good-fire-can-help-our-forests-thrive
Santa Ana winds (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Ana_winds) can occur in January. They're just more common in the fall - that's why the fall is often considered "fire season."
I've seen some comments that the previous year was wetter than normal, which created a lot of new growth and then it's been dryer of late, which means all of that new plant growth became dry and potential fuel for the fire.
Also, Daily Mail surfaced a Joe Rogan clip recounting a conversation with a firefighter that was quite prescient: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/news/video-3347845/Video-Revelatory-conversation-Joe-Rogan-firefighter-resurfaces.html
Thank you for sharing the article about Native American tribes and their forest management. Very helpful and interesting.

Research smart meters!! Plenty has been scrubbed about them but it can be pulsed and used as a weapon.
That’s what I wrote as an article as hinting on that! Sending if you didn’t see it: https://unorthodoxy.substack.com/p/the-la-county-fires-here-we-go-again
I wondered same re standing trees and telephone poles
Just penned this article too: https://unorthodoxy.substack.com/p/the-la-county-fires-here-we-go-again

I'm at a loss for words. The images and video footage made me cry. I hate this for the people & wildlife of California. They deserve better.

I replied to the wrong comment! Oops
I am very interested to know how all of these fires got started. I can't imagine there were overhead powerlines in PP. I am convinced most of these are the work of arsonists and event people.
Oops, evil people, not event.
Sure blame the homeless

Smelt this coming from a mile away
OOHHHH... almost as bad as PedoJoe at meeting about the CA firestorms, looking at Comma-la and said, "Fire Away... no pun intended." Jan 20 cannot come soon enough.
I am here for my own amusement, and I am currently amused. Might change later.
I see what you did there!!

Had their conservation efforts worked, it would have been somewhat of a win, but alas... womp. Womp.

Yes, it's truthers have been talking about this, but no one will listen
