Agreed. Here is Australia our government has just passed the Digital ID Bill. This bill was pushed through without debate. I noticed that in the US there is something called REAL ID and that by sometime in 2025 everyone will need a REAL ID to board a plane.
Real ID is different than this. We have that where we live and you just have to show more forms of identification when getting your license. It’s just a star on your license. Definitely not what they are implying here.
But is this not all part of laying the foundations for a Digital ID? Like vaccine mandates, they were marketed as voluntary but those that didn’t comply were locked out of society, you couldn’t work or go to a cafe. This is similar in that if you don’t comply you aren’t allowed on a plane. Perhaps it’s not as extreme, but maybe it’s the beginning & how compliance is fostered. Our government is pitching that Digital IDs are voluntary but that businesses can enforce them. The approach is very similar to that of vaccine passports - the government doesn’t enforce them but incentivizes businesses to do the work for them. Maybe as you say it’s not the same thing. The worst part is that Obama signed an executive order in his last days that allowed for the UN to “assist” the United States with armed soldiers on US soil in an emergency. Executive orders are all public records at the White House archives under the president you want to read. People need to wake up and get involved. Run for office, go to city meetings. Remove your money from entities that use your money against you. We can change this by getting active in your community.
